The Air Force performed these tests to address the oil and fuel (GP8) leakages that dissolve the asphalt pavement.

 

Another critical issue concerning the taxiways is the FOD (Foreign Object Damage), which is the detachment of the aggregate from the pavement (see picture below) that can be sucked by the jet engines, damaging turbines and compromizing safety.
