S. Michele Ozonization Plant - Municipal District Cagliari, Italy

Status before the restoration:

The tanks were coated with an old epoxy coating that was worn and in the process of exfoliating and detaching from the internal walls. There were substantial leakages close to the foundations, and vast seepages on the external walls.

Steps followed during the renovation:

  • waterjet removal of the old coating and the layer below it, esposing the concrete;
  • deep fissures filling using trowelable RIMAC;
  • application of RIMAC to waterproof all the internal surfaces, including the floor. The coating was applied in three cycles, spaced over time, for a total average thickness of 2.0 mm (measured when dry).

Considerations

It is worth noting that even if the ozone is a very reactive agent, RIMAC displayed an excellent performance.
